The Cardinal's song wakes me
At the top of the neighbor's tree
The bright sun blazes through the blinds
Bulbs pop in exuberance
Grass quickly greens
Neighbors reunite outside
Kids skateboard, ride bikes
The gathering of yard debris begins
The birdfeeder sees countless sparrows, occasional purple finches
Squirrels run crazed through the park
I pray my home will stay mine.
